Kvarner's Online Reviews

Comprehensive Guide to Being a Digital Nomad in Croatia (Vollo.net)

This blogpost is catered to a new breed of worker, the digital nomad. Someone who isn't restricted by an office, workspace or even country (Become a digital nomad) and works solely using digital mediums to run their business, fulfil their role to a business, etc. Instead of working from a studio, office space or the like they work from a variety of destinations, the most popular type being holiday locales.

The things that these type of workers need to know are:
  • Price of living
  • Accomodation
  • Internet infrastructure
  • Local travels options
  • Community
  • Interesting spots to visit

This blog was surprisingly informative considering its low word count. It knew exactly what its target reader needed, cut out all of the hyperbole and got straight to the point.

Kvarner Region: The Katarina Line Cruise (Chasing The Donkey)

Chasing The Donkey is a travel blog that specifically reports on travelling Croatia and the Balkans. This blog post on the Kvarner Region follows one family as they partake on the Katarina Line cruise.

Although the blog is extremely brief in its discussion, it does tell the reader exactly what the cruise consists of. However, I find it extremely ineffective in selling the Kvarner region and even the cruise itself to the reader as it does not entice nor effectively explain the rich beauty and history of the spots visited. I also found the images used to be ineffectual, as they fail to show anything specific to the region.

Kvarner Travel Guide (Time Out)

This was without a doubt the worst pick of the bunch. Basically only goes over the geography of the region in the briefest manner, does tell the reader anything about activities going on in the area nor interesting place.

Kvarner Bay: Croatia's Best Kept Secret (Telegraph.co.uk) & Bay of Pigging Out - Town-hopping in Croatia's Kvarner gulf (The Guardian)

These two aren't necessarily travel blogs but they have done what all the others I've found failed to do, get the reader excited to visit Kvarner. They use romantic language and high-resolution imagery concentrating on the regions distinguishing beauty. They highlight all the things that make the place great, beaches, the castles, the relaxed pace of living, the food (the list really does go on) and gives it to the reader in a format that is digestible; snippets broken up by gorgeous photography and in a way that the reader can really picture themselves in.

They also give the reader links to handy resources and other helpful articles to fit the reader out with any information they may need for their trip.

Conclusion

  • I've found that images and language used are imperative for enticing the reader into buying into the destination as a place they want to visit.
  • Exclude the hyperbole. Short, precise and to the point is best.
  • Be helpful. Post links to other articles, or to websites that sell tours/packages.
  • Concentrate on the exclusive stuff that the region! Heratige buildings, beachs, markets, etc.
